The Everglades Palm is a variety which is native to Florida. It is more correctly known as the Paurotis Palm. It is naturally found around the outer edges of islands near Florida and in the Carribean.

Everglades Palms perform best when planted in damp or even wet soil and in full or nearly full sun. It prefers slightly acidic conditions and is salt tolerant.

The Everglades Palm grows in clusters that will continue to expand over time. While you must consider the mature height of the plant of 20 feet when selecting a location, you must also make sure you have enough lateral space to accomodate the growth of the plant.
