Bottle Palm Tree
Hyophorbe lagenicaulis

The Bottle Palm Tree gets it's name from the wide bottle shape of the trunk. The Bottle Palm is native to islands in the Indian Ocean near africa. The Bottle Palm is nearly extinct in it's natural habitat but widely available through domestic Palm nurseries. The tree grows to a height of nearly 20 feet tall when mature.

While the Bottle Palm is salt tolerant and will hold up well to windy condtions, it can be damaged or killed by cold weather. It will only grow safely in USDA hardiness zones 10 and 11.

Plant Bottle Palms in sunny locations that receive regular waterings. The plant should be fertilized in the spring, summer and fall for best results.

Bottle Palms make a great specimen plant in your landscape. They may be container grown as well as planted in the ground.
